In this economy, people are finding creative ways to cut costs. A great-tasting bottle of wine can be costly, but with Vino 100 opening its doors in Chicago, wine lovers can now enjoy a variety of brands without breaking the bank. Vino 100, which boasts the slogan, “100 great wines for $25 or less,” is dedicated to making the wine-buying experience both simple and fun.
Located in the Logan Square neighborhood, this is the first Vino 100 franchise to open in Chicago. Owner Steve Laux celebrated the store’s grand opening with a wine-tasting event for the entire community.
“We have been open since May, but we wanted to hold this event to let the neighborhood know that we are here,” says Laux.
Miriam Berg, a resident of neighboring Bucktown, enjoyed the grand opening with girlfriends. “There aren’t enough places here in the city where residents can go to buy good wine,” she says.
Vino 100 caters to all tastes with more than 160 brands available, but the store’s clean, spacious layout manages to keep patrons from feeling overwhelmed. “The store is laid out this way to make it less intimidating for our customers,” Laux says.
Daisy Hill sauvignon blanc from New Zealand is the most popular wine choice so far. For those looking for a little wine tutorial or just aiming to try a new vintage that may pair well with a dinner recipe, stop in on Saturdays to enjoy a free tasting from 2 p.m.–5 p.m.
Vino 100 is located at 2711 N. Elston Avenue. For more information, visit www.vino100chicago.com or call (773) 489-WINE.
